Ford Taurus Canada
The Ford Taurus is a mid sized sedan manufactured by Ford since 1986, while it was discontinued after poor sales in the fourth generation model which was released in 2000, the fifth generation Ford was completely redesigned and made its official debut in 2009 at the International Auto Show in Detroit, while the Ford Fusion replaces the Taurus as Ford's flagship mid-sized vehicle the new revolutionized Taurus is moderately larger and joins the full-sized segment. The original Ford Taurus had a performance Taurus SHO model which was available from 1989-1999 and was produced by the same team that manufactured the Ford Mustang SVO; the new Taurus SHO (Super High Output) was unveiled at the 2010 Auto Show in Chicago and was named Car of the Year by Esquire.
The Ford Taurus in Canada is available with a standard 3.5L V6 engine with 263HP, 6-speed automatic transmission and includes AdvanceTrac electronic stability control (ESC). The base model Taurus SE is available in front-wheel
drive, while the Taurus SEL and Limited trim have optional AWD. The Ford SEL also features 18 inch rims, SelectShift 6-speed automatic transmission with steering mounted paddle controls and integrated Sirius satellite radio; while the fully loaded 2011 Taurus Limited includes premium sound system, 19 inch chrome rims, front and back leather heated seats, Ford's advanced SYNC navigation and entertainment system and rear view camera.
The 2012 Taurus SHO is equipped with a V6 3.5L EcoBoost engine which it shares with the Lincoln MKT, coupled with a six-speed SelectShift Automatic transmission which includes steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters for a sportier drive. The Taurus SHO includes a torque-sensing All-Wheel-Drive system and 20 inch chrome wheels. The EcoBoost turbocharged engine is also used in the 2012 Ford Edge with a 2.0L EcoBoost engine and the 2010 Ford Flex V6 3.5L EcoBoost engine.
