Ford Fusion Canada

Ford Fusion 2006-2009The Ford Fusion made its debut in Canada in 2006 replacing the mid-sized Ford Taurus, sharing the same Mazda6 CD3 platform which is also used by the Ford Edge and Mazda CX-9. The new Fusion revolutionized the mid-size car segment with more luxury features, combining a slick design with a sporty engine and fuel efficiency. The Ford Fusion was presented as a concept car at the 2003 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The Ford Fusion is between the Ford Focus sedan and the new full-size 2011 Ford Taurus in both price and size.

The 2006 Ford Fusion is available with two engines in Canada; the base Fusion S trim is equipped with a 2.3L Duratec engine with 160HP, while the Fusion SE and SEL models are paired with a V6 3.0L Duratec engine with 221HP, both designed by Mazda and shared with the Mazda6 and available with a standard manual and automatic transmission. The new Ford Fusion competes directly with the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, and was chosen over the two Japanese brands by the Car and Driver magazine.

The 2008 Ford Fusion SE and SEL trim models both with V6 engines, are available with optional all-wheel drive, Sirius Satellite Radio and voice activated GPS navigation system. Integrated tire pressure monitoring system became standard for all 2008 models and includes anti-lock ABS brakes. One of the most notable options is Ford’s SYNC entertainment and communication system, with voice activated commands, hands-free phone calls, mobile phone integration and music controls, including instant voice recognition and Garmin navigation.

Ford Fusion 2010-2013
The 2010-2011 Ford Fusion was redesigned completely, with a revolutionized interior and a slicker exterior design. Sharing the 2009 Ford Escape 2.5L engine and a newer 3.0L V6 engine with 240HP coupled with Ford’s 6-speed transmission which is also used with the Ford Edge, Ford Flex and Lincoln MKX and 2010 Lincoln MKZ. The 2012 Ford Fusion sport trim is available with a V6 3.5L Duratec 35 engine with 263HP, an upgraded 8 inch DVD screen and navigational system is now optional.

The 2012 Ford Fusion in Canada is available in four trims; the base model Fusion S with front wheel drive,
2.5L engine and ABS brakes, while the Fusion SE trim includes 17″ rims, steering wheel mounted cruise control and Sirius satellite radio and the fully loaded Ford Fusion SEL with an optional 3.0L V6 engine and all wheel drive and Ford SYNC. The Ford Sport is equipped with a V6 3.5L engine, 18 inch aluminum wheels, Ford SYNC and a performance enhanced SelectShift automatic transmission.

Ford Fusion Hybrid
The Fusion hybrid version was announced at the North American Auto Show in 2005 when the first FordFusion made its debut, the Fusion hybrid was available in Canada by mid-2009 as a 2010 Fusion hybrid model. The Fusion Hybrid is manufactured in Sonora, Mexico. In 2010 the Ford Fusion Hybrid won the North American Car of the Year Award at the Detroit Auto Show. In 2010 the Fusion Hybrid was the third most sold hybrid after the Toyota Prius and Honda Insight. The Fusion Hybrid EPA rated fuel economy is better than the 2011 Toyota Camry hybrid and Nissan Altima hybrid.

The 2012 Ford Fusion hybrid comes with a SmartGauge with EcoGuide nicely mounted on two 4 inch LCD screens mounted on either side of the dashboard which continuously monitors the vehicles fuel and battery power levels, allowing the driver to optimize their driving habits which improves their fuel efficiency.
