The Ford Edge is available with a V6 3.5L engine with 265HP and 250 lb/ft of torque, which it shares with the Ford Flex, Ford Fusion and 2012 Ford Taurus in Canada. It is available in three trims; the base model Ford Edge SE with cloth seats and 17 inch rims; while the Edge SEL includes 6-CD changer, Sirius satellite radio, steering wheel mounted controls and 18 inch rims; the Ford Edge Limited came out in 2008 replacing the optional Edge SEL plus model with leather seats and Ford’s SYNC navigation and entertainment system. In 2009 the Ford Edge Sport trim was available, which included 6-speed select shift automatic transmission with paddle activation and 20 inch chrome rims with optional 22 inch wheels and is available in all-wheel drive only, while the Edge SEL and Limited is standard FWD with optional 4WD.The Ford Edge is a crossover SUV manufactured in Oakville, Ontario by Ford since 2006. The Ford Edge is based on a CD3 platform which it shares with the Ford Fusion, Mazda 6 and Mazda CX-9. The Ford Edge also shares design and engine with the Lincoln MKX. The Edge made its debut in 2006 at the International Auto Show in Detroit and was released in Canada by late 2006 as a 2007 Ford Edge model, it has become Ford’s fully loaded luxury SUV, competing directly with Lexus and Lincoln crossover vehicles.

The 2012 Ford Edge in Canada received a face-lift with a new grill, redesigned bumpers and a newly designed touch controlled dashboard. A smaller 2.0L EcoBoost engine was also introduced as optional feature which it shares with the newly designed 2012 Ford Explorer and 2012 Range Rover Evoque. An upgraded V6 3.5L engine with twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) which further increases fuel economy is used as a standard engine on all Ford Edge models except the the Ford Edge Sport trim which is coupled with a new V6 3.7L engine with 305HP and 280 lb/ft of torque. Ford’s V6 3.5L duratec 35 engine was named in the “Top 10 Best Engines” by Ward’s AutoWorld magazine. While the Ford Edge isn’t the largest of SUVs it continues to be a top pick as a safe and comfortable crossover SUV for under $30,000.
